The Covid-19 pandemic was a sudden turn of events that took everyone by surprise. What started as a virus in China, turned into a virus that has affected millions of people across the world.
The impact of the covid pandemic is beyond comprehension. The global market was at its lowest point, there was extreme unemployment in nations, people lost their means of livelihood, there were shortages of food, people suffered from depression, anxiety issues escalated etc. Every sector of each economy has been subject to its potency.
Among all this cosmic chaos, the Covid-19 vaccine seemed like the only ray of hope. Ever since the breakout of the pandemic on a global scale, the preparation of this vaccine was commenced. Developed and developing nations such as the United States of America, Great Britain, India, Russia and China started developing their vaccines and initiated their respective clinical trials.
The vaccine was much awaited by all the nations of the world. Due to the riveting rise in the number of people affected by the virus in various countries, emergency approval was given to most of the vaccines.
After rigorous clinical trials and extreme supervision and proficiency, keeping in mind the health and safety of the citizens of the countries, the vaccination procedure has started in most nations across the world. The trusted vaccines include Pfizer- BioNTech, Moderna, Sputnik V etc.
Since the vaccine has received emergency approval, the vaccine does not ensure that the receiver will never be affected by the virus. The main purpose of the vaccine is to reduce the intensity of the virus so that the individual infected does not suffer. It offers a huge boost against the virus, but can not ensure total protection. One must continue to use masks and hand sanitisers to keep themselves safe and healthy.
The vaccination process is said to have two phases. The first shot will be received. The second shot will be received 21 days post the first shot.
India initiated its vaccine procedure on 16th January 2019. The vaccines are manufactured in India by the leading pharmaceuticals manufacturer, Serum Institute Of India. The vaccines injected in India are known as ‘Covaxin’ which is the indigenous vaccine of India, created by Bharat Biotech and ‘Covishield’ which is the vaccine created by AstraZeneca, Britain. Covaxin was approved before the third phase of its clinical trial was complete. However, the trial is complete now, and the Prime Minister of the country has revived the first shot.
India has manufactured doses of the vaccine for counties like Brazil and Mexico. India has been cooperative and brisk in responding to the pandemic. In these trying times, the country has also helped other nations with the vaccine process.
The world is heavily relying on the vaccine, as it seems like the sole potential solution to this unending agony. Countries are trying there level best to return to normalcy with restrictions. With variants of the virus approaching us, the fate of the pandemic seems uncertain. The covid vaccine seems like the closest thing to a ‘messiah’.
